URK: Week 3

9/29/09
Week 3 Power Rankings
It’s only week 3, and already injuries are starting to play a factor – nothing like a big goose egg on the board to make winning in this league even more difficult. Add to that the addition of bye weeks, and we’ll start to see managerial skill play a bigger role in the fortunes of each team over the next couple of months. Well, that and a lot of plain dumb luck. To the rankings!

Ugly Betties:
12. BullerBezoarBonanza

Record: 0-3; Last week’s ranking: 10
Scoring okay, but not winning. Now they face another weak team, but with 3 of their best players on bye. Some teams just can’t catch a break.

11. Minions

Record: 1-2; Last week’s ranking: 7
The lack of depth really was really exposed this past week without Brees to cover their sins. This season could get ugly fast if they don’t get some additional support from somewhere.

10. Kenny Gee Willikers

Record: 2-1; Last week’s ranking: 12
Still not performing very well, but they have managed to steal a few close victories. If they pull off the upset this week over the best team in the league, they will somehow have equivalent records despite averaging more than 30 less points a game thus far.

9. Clay Davis All-Stars

Record: 1-2; Last week’s ranking: 11
Good thing Beanie Wells is on bye this week; that will be better than the negative points he contributed last week. They got their first win of the season, and just might be on the verge of turning things around and living up to their promise.

Plain Janes:
8. Cool Runnings

Record: 1-2; Last week’s ranking: 8
One of those teams with a huge drop-off between the stars and the role players, and thus far the stars haven’t been able to carry the team. If they could get a bit of help from the running game, this team could be sitting in a very different place.

7. Blinder Squirrels

Record: 1-2; Last week’s ranking: 5
Two weeks in a row of miserable games is tough to stomach for a team that expected to hang around the top of the league this year. Definitely looks like a bad year to be invested in Tampa Bay.

6. Fat Cats

Record: 1-2; Last week’s ranking: 4
The excitement of last week wore off pretty quickly as the Cats come crashing back to earth. While Lynch coming back from suspension makes them better on paper, in reality Jackson has been performing quite well as a backup. Still, an underperforming team that has shown it can compete with the best.

5. Cactus!! WATCH OUT!!

Record: 2-1; Last week’s ranking: 9
Almost by default, this team makes a nice move up the standings with two decent victories in a row. Their depth has really been a pleasant surprise; can they get through a tough bye week to make a claim for being among the league’s elite?

Blond Bombshells:
4. Granite Daisies

Record: 2-1; Last week’s ranking: 6
The Daisies post the year biggest beat down to date by a whopping 71 points. This team is still too top heavy to post these numbers consistently over the season, but right now they’re rolling.

3. The Schmuckernators

Record: 1-2; Last week’s ranking: 3
Continue to rack up the points, but for the second week in a row they take a tough defeat. They don’t drop, because it’s impossible to make a case that any of the two win teams are better than these guys. The Schmuckernators should start to catch some breaks soon.

2. Ritzy Blitzers

Record: 3-0; Last week’s ranking: 2
Awful week, but they remain undefeated and definitely deserve the second spot. The cracks are showing, however; will they be able to keep up their winning ways over the course of a long season?

1. Cupcakes of Doom!

Record: 3-0; Last week’s ranking: 1
Three solid weeks in a row confirms it; this team is no fluke. Production up and down the lineup, the Cupcakes are firing on all cylinders right now. The young players on this team are really stepping up.

Well for my team, the only TB player I've played is Caddy Williams and he's actually done decent barring last game, 30 pts total in 3 games isn't dismal.

My weakness seems to be receivers and a under performing Tom Brady :(

Good point...when I was looking through your roster, I thought you were playing two, with the third riding the bench. And I was thinking of how in the past you've had pretty good success out of Galloway, Graham, etc.
