URK: Week 1

9/15/09
Week 1 Power Rankings
And they’re off! A couple of really close games at the end kept Week One in suspense until its final moments. It looks like the balance in this league is better than ever, making it even harder to determine these rankings. Expect to see quite a bit of movement over these first several weeks as things sort out and teams establish their identities. Here’s to a great season!

Bottom Feeders:

12. Granite Daisies

Record: 0-1; Last week’s ranking: n/a
Basically everyone of note on this team had a bad week; with such a thin lineup, this was not a promising start. These guys might see a lot of the basement this year.

11. BullerBezoarBonanza

Record: 0-1; Last week’s ranking: n/a
Pedestrian effort that may be indicative of a long season. Can they bounce back?

10. Cool Runnings

Record: 0-1; Last week’s ranking: n/a
When your kicker is the only one who meets expectations, it makes for a tough outing. They’ll do better most weeks, but that RB situation is cause for concern.

9. Cactus!! WATCH OUT!!

Record: 0-1; Last week’s ranking: n/a
Just because Yahoo likes this team doesn’t mean I have to. Still, this week was likely an anomaly and they should come back strong.

Middle of the Pack:

8. Fat Cats

Record: 0-1; Last week’s ranking: n/a
Solid showing, but unfortunately lost a close one. They could be a real sleeper in the league.

7. Kenny Gee Willikers

Record: 1-0; Last week’s ranking: n/a
Invested in some questionable offenses (Denver and Chicago, anyone?), but the team of a thousand free agent claims steals a win and will likely get stronger as the season progresses.

6. Minions

Record: 1-0; Last week’s ranking: n/a
Drew Brees, and that’s about it. The good news? Much like Brady 2 years back, Brees can win games all by himself…at least against the Lions defense.

5. Clay Davis All-Stars

Record: 0-1; Last week’s ranking: n/a
Who needs number two and number three RBs when you’ve got All-Day? Nearly won despite a couple of donuts on the board. With a little more support, this team will be dangerous.

Top Guns:

4. Cupcakes of Doom!

Record: 1-0; Last week’s ranking: n/a
A really good week, top-to-bottom, and they squeaked out a nail-biting victory. Can they keep it up over the course of the season?

3. Ritzy Blitzers

Record: 1-0; Last week’s ranking: n/a
Does it surprise anyone? They’ve got some weaknesses, sure, but this team will be in the mix by the end of the season.

2. Blinder Squirrels

Record: 1-0; Last week’s ranking: n/a
Coasted to victory on the back of a few surprising performers and could have been even better. They look solid through and through.

1. The Schmuckernators

Record: 1-0; Last week’s ranking: n/a
That was utterly dominating. The Schmuckernators establish themselves as the early favorite in the league.

Even with a Goose egg from Berrian I broke a 100, suck on that.

Thanks Danny

Well done Kenny Gee Willikers. Now, the real question on everyone's minds is...Who's the mysterious woman along side your avatar?
