Round 2
UPSET! Just like that, a dominant season is washed away in the blink of a ridiculously lucky eye. But the stunning 8 over 1 come-from-behind upset wasn’t the only wasn’t the only big news out of round 1; the Schmuckernators finally overcame their first round playoff woes to ensure that this year’s champion would be brand new. The Incomprehensibles also finally found a way to win their first round game – believe it or not, they are now tied for the all time winningest franchise come playoff time, despite only a couple of 5th place finishes to show for their gaudy 5-2 record. In the fourth and final game, the Blind Squirrels got away with posting the next to lowest score of anyone in the first round; the only team they beat was the one that mattered, their opponent. That’s the reward for their push toward the top of the seedings at the end of the season. Now, to look ahead to round 2 (and attempt to improve my stellar 1-3 prediction record…)
(5) The Schmuckernators over (8) The Inglorious Bat Turds
Expect the Turds to come back to reality this week against a strong Schmuckernator team – but make no mistake, this should be very close since once again the Turds have very favorable matchups.
(2) The Blind Squirrels over (3) The Incomprehensibles
The two current longest winning streaks in the league go head to head for a spot in the final. This is another one with all the makings of going down to the wire, but the best guess here is that the Squirrels find a way to break through their past troubles in the second round game and get a chance at a championship.
(1) The Home Pwners over (4) The Dngr Dngrs
The annual playoff meeting between these two rivals loses a little luster here. Neither expected to find themselves just trying to avoid a spot in the seventh place game, but that’s where they are. It’s hard to imagine the Pwners losing two in a row, and so the money is on the regular season champ to bounce back.
(7) Cool Runnings over (6) Buller’s Benzos BID
Two teams that never really had a chance last week hope to put together better efforts here. While they haven’t performed all that well as of late, the Runnings have the bigger upside and should pull out the win.
