URK 2011: Week 5 Power Rankings

Exciting week with plenty of close comeback games. At this point in the year, we’ve got some nice symmetry in the standings – one 5 win, two 4 win, three 3 win, three 2 win, two 1 win, and one 0 win teams. Gauss would be proud. If he cared about fantasy football, that is.

12. Minions (Chris)
W-L: 0-5
Last Week: 12
Average Ballot Position: 12.0

Well, at least they got their brutal bye week out of the way. Unfortunately, all their good players actually played this week and still will take a break at a later date.

11. A Sheep at the Wheel (Jaron)
W-L: 1-4
Last Week: 10
Average Ballot Position: 10.6

Their disastrous start to the season continues as they ran into yet another team posting a big number. Gotta say, it’s pretty shocking to see them struggling so much. Is it time for a shake-up? Maybe of the lemon variety?

10. Cupcakes of DOOM! (Adam)
W-L: 1-4
Last Week: 9
Average Ballot Position: 10.0

After a strong start to the year, it’s been all downhill – this week losing on a MNF field goal in the final two minutes. They desperately need a win this week before half their starters go on bye the following week.

9. Obese Geese (Steve)
W-L: 2-3
Last Week: 7
Average Ballot Position: 8.6

They’re the lowest scoring team in the league, and it’s not even really close (5 pts/game less than the Minions. The Minions!). That’s the bad news; the good news is they’ve managed to steal two wins thus far, so they’ll be sitting okay if they can ever break out.

8. SayHi2YourMother4Me (Kenan)
W-L: 2-3
Last Week: 11
Average Ballot Position: 7.8

One tremendous week was apparently enough for these guys to start looking like contenders again. Health and a couple of players having breakout games will do that sort of thing. Now they can hopefully establish some momentum this next week and become a serious threat.

7. Jehovah's Jockstrap (Brett)
W-L: 2-3
Last Week: 6
Average Ballot Position: 7.0

They came pretty close to taking down the big dog, but couldn’t quite finish the job. Still, if they can keep up their cyclic pattern of results this year, they’ve got another strong game and win coming this week.

6. The Schmuckernators (Jason)
W-L: 3-2
Last Week: 8
Average Ballot Position: 6.2

Great effort by the Schmucks to take down one of the two undefeateds. They’re still not scoring a ton of points, but the last few weeks they are showing some real grit and fight. Also, determination and hustle.

5. The Dyin' SharkLions (Danny)
W-L: 3-2
Last Week: 4
Average Ballot Position: 4.6

Nearly got taken down in humiliating fashion by the league’s worst playing with half their guys. They’ve been trending downward lately; so, was it one bad week, or a sign of more trouble ahead? TBD.

4. Rostrum Records (Luke)
W-L: 3-2
Last Week: 5
Average Ballot Position: 4.4

Strong showing helps the Records break .500 again. Now they have a great opportunity to test themselves against the best of the best – can they take out the final undefeated team?

3. Bacon Cheeseburgers (Andy K.)
W-L: 4-1
Last Week: 3
Average Ballot Position: 3.0

Somehow stole a last minute victory this week behind a tremendous Peterson effort and not much else. Getting all those bye week players back now helps out too.

2. Stars (Dan)
W-L: 4-1
Last Week: 2
Average Ballot Position: 2.8

All those mounting WR injuries finally became too much for the Stars to overcome. Now they’ve got a great showdown with the Cheeseburgers for sole position of second place. Who wants it more? Who wants it more?

1. Z Power (Andy G.)
W-L: 5-0
Last Week: 1
Average Ballot Position: 1.0 (5)

Tested, but not defeated. Only one team has managed to hit triple digits every week, and they sit here on top of the totem poll. Unanimous!
