URK 2015 Pictoral Wrap Up
Congrats to Jaron on his first playoff championship since 2010! The overall season rankings are shown below. As a brief reminder, these are determined according to an overly complicated formula that considers performance according to weighted categories of points, wins, place, championships, regular season, and postseason performance.
How did Yahoo do with its draft day projections at the beginning of the year? Actually...not too bad!
While this was designed for the regular season only (so it should really be compared to the wins/points plot from the previous post), it actually predicted the championship matchup. The updated regular season+playoffs wins/points plot is shown below.
Finally, let's revisit some long term performance and trends. First, we have each season's rankings for all 10 years of the league.
It's a little hard to follow, but kind of fun to track your own performance year-to-year. Adam took one of the sharpest nosedives we've seen yet! (Though, to be fair, he did have one of the unluckiest regular seasons in recent memory...)
Another way to consider long term trends is with a rolling average - one way to smooth out year-to-year variations and track "dynasties" as they wax and wane. So I've also created the 3-year rolling average from the above plot, and I think it does a nice job telling some overarching stories about the league.
So, I probably like this best because it puts me on top - a small consolation for 3 straight years of runner-up finishes in the playoffs!
Hope you've all had a fun year, and let's do it again next year!
