Week 13 Rankings, 2012
Well, we made to the end of another regular season, and a final set of power rankings. The playoff preview will come tomorrow, but let’s first take a moment for a brief requiem for those unlucky teams whose season has (perhaps mercifully) ended:
Cactus watch out! (Steve S.)
The Cacti had the worst year in the league, it’s true, but did manage to snag wins over all the teams whose names started with ‘M’, and they also managed to avoid having the worst record in league history. The team had several good pieces (especially some decent receivers) but were done in by having only two RBs on the roster, both from Carolina. Awesome job, autodraft.
It’s pretty shocking to season the preseason #1 sitting all the way down in 11th place. And it’s not like we were the only ones fooled – Yahoo projected this team to get 11 wins and finish 2nd on draft day. What happened? Hard to say, other than it might simply have been a case of big name underachievement – talent, but just didn’t get the results this season. On the plus side, they had a few nice moments early on with blowout victories over both the PAC and the Geese. Ultimately, though, their season came down to the week 11 loss to the Yaks, which served as a de-facto play-in game for the dance.
Minions (Chris M.)
Any time a team manages a 500% improvement in the win total from the previous year…well, it just means they were historically bad last year. But this year’s version actually acquitted themselves quite nicely, surging to 4 wins in their final 6 games. If not for some rough luck with injuries (read: refusal to pick up any back up help during the tough, bye-week-filled middle of the season) they might even have found themselves in the playoffs. Perhaps a worthy goal for next year!
Chi Don’t Dance (Luke M.)
Last year’s alpha dog ultimately fell just short of a chance to defend their crown. In doing so, they became just the 2nd team to miss the playoffs following a championship…following in the footsteps of none other than big brother! The Chi didn’t dance this year because the team had a lot of projects (there might be several gems on this roster that just need another year or two to reach potential), but they did manage to make a solid run at the end of the year (3 wins in 5 games) highlighted by a season sweep of the Yaks.
Now onto the rankings. Probably will post some charts later, but the aggregated results are below.
