Week 1 Power Rankings!

One week down, 15 to go. What did we learn? Jaron still owns the regular season, for those of us who thought he may have slipped a bit this year. Silly doubters! Of course, it’s still too soon to make realistic judgments on the rest of the league, but that’s what we’re going to do anyway.

This week’s prudent power rankings:

Wait, the season started already?

12. Cupcakes of DOOM!

Record: 0-1; Last Week: 11

They looked pretty bad this week, and the future isn’t much brighter. The star QB had a bad game, the RB1 is a mess, and there’s no depth on the roster. Does this league’s Brees curse continue?

11. ★

Record: 0-1; Last Week: 4

In some trouble with injury worries for their best RB and sub-par showings from nearly everyone else. There’s still enough talent on the roster to turn it around, but this week was a pretty worrisome sign.

10. Bad Bad Victorcat

Record: 0-1; Last Week: 6

Strong running game, but really hurt by several weak lines in the starting lineup. Having 2 injured QBs on the roster doesn’t help the outlook, either.

9. The Schmuckernators

Record: 0-1; Last Week: 1

Well, that was pretty horrific. How’s that for a power rankings jinx? On the upside, it can’t figure to be any worse than this past week for these guys.

A bit of good, a bit of bad…

8. Minions

Record: 1-0; Last Week: 12

Not completely sold on these guys yet, but give ‘em credit; they got the balanced win without a monster game from Peterson. If things continue to break right, they’ll find themselves competing for a playoff spot.

7. Fat Cats

Record: 0-1; Last Week: 10

Lost a nail-biter in the most exciting game of the first week. If not for a goose egg in that WR1 slot, they’d be sitting pretty right now. But it looks like receiver consistency could give them fits all season.

6. Cool Runnings

Record: 1-0; Last Week: 9

Didn’t need to be outstanding to win this week, and they weren’t. The Runnings were pretty good though; as long as the continue to get some support for Brady, they’ll be in the mix each week.

5. Z Power

Record: 1-0; Last Week: 2

Survived some unexpectedly weak efforts to grab the victory. This is a team that just needs to survive the first half of the season with a few wins like this; they should kick into gear by the end of the year and become a true upper-tier threat.

Hitting the ground running!

4. Doctor Dilaudid

Record: 1-0; Last Week: 7

Won a tight one no thanks to mediocre showings from the QB and RBs. While the WRs won’t always be so good, they should get more help in future weeks.

3. Left Hand Strangers

Record: 0-1; Last Week: 3

Lost this week, but looked plenty good to win most weeks. The running game is a bit shaky, but the WR depth is scary good.

2. The Hot Showers

Record: 1-0; Last Week: 8

Impressive showing, and helped by a surprising RB performance. If Foster is really top 5 RB material, this team is quite dangerous; if not, they still look above average.

1. A Sheep at the Wheel

Record: 1-0; Last Week: 5

Tremendous effort. Can’t expect Forte to be this huge every week (it was the Lions after all), but he was hardly the only reason the Sheep won. This spot is theirs until they lose.
