Power Rankings, Week 8

Pretty good slate of games this past week, with at least three very interested parties in the Monday night game. Only two more weeks of dealing with the byes, and only two and a half more weeks to pull the trigger on that trade gamble that could make or break the season!

1. The Home Pwners (Record 6-2, Standings: 2, Previous Week PR: 1)

Their lowest scoring game of the season (for once they didn’t break 100!) was still plenty to coast to an easy victory. The dominant team in the league shows no signs of letting up.

2. The Schmuckernators (Record 7-1, Standings: 1, Previous Week PR: 3)

Squeak out a surprisingly tough win and take sole possession of first place in the standings. With a cupcake schedule the rest of the way (only one team with a winning record), they now hold the inside position in the race for the number one seed.

3. The Dngrs Dngrs (Record 6-2, Standings: 3, Previous Week PR: 2)

Tough loss for a team missing a lot of key components due to injuries and bye weeks. The lack of depth on this team really showed up this week and is a bad omen for the rest of the season if they don’t get healthy.

4. Cool Runnings (Record 5-3, Standings: 6, Previous Week PR: 4)

Tough loss in the sibling showdown. Now that their bad bye weeks are over and their players are starting to return to health, they’ll be in much better shape down the stretch.

5. Brett’s Benzos BID (Record 5-3, Standings: 4, Previous Week PR: 5)

Unspectacular win, but it was enough to get the job done. That’s important as they jockey for position over the next several weeks.

6. Blind Squirrels (Record 5-3, Standings: 5, Previous Week PR: 7)

They finally get a signature victory over a good team and in doing so, pick up their third straight win. Even more importantly, they sneak upward in the standings as they look to secure a top five finish.

7. Inglorious Bat Turds (Record 3-5, Standings: 8, Previous Week PR: 8)

This team continues to look really good. Unfortunately, the mismanagement is appalling and nearly cost this team the victory this week. Fortunately, this team is playing well enough that they can win over a good team even with an empty roster spot. Scary.

8. Incomprehensibles (Record 4-4, Standings: 7, Previous Week PR: 6)

Disappointing performance from a team looking to really cement their place in the upper division of the league. Instead, they flash the inconsistency that has been their hallmark. Pulling off their second upset this season over the number one team next week would be as big as Brady’s knee infection.

9. Cupcakes of Doom! (Record 3-5, Standings: 9, Previous Week PR: 9)

A big comeback on the big back of LenDale White might have saved their hopes this season. Now that Westbrook has returned from injury, they have a fighting chance in most games with even a little support from the role players.

10. Cactus. Look out! (Record: 2-6, Standings: 10, Previous Week PR: 10)

Tough loss, but they put up another strong showing despite being down several players. The schedule is brutal to end the season, but they could easily pull the spoiler card any number of teams.

11. Fat Cats (Record 2-6, Standings: 11, Previous Week PR: 11)

Yet another miserable day for a team that is falling apart. It will take something drastic for this team to turn this drowning cat around. Maybe if they create a real avatar?

12. Minions (Record 0-8, Standings: 12, Previous Week PR: 12)

Almost pulled off the shocker, but sadly played the wrong ex-OSU receiver as Ginn, Jr had the huge day while Gonzales choked. Still there were a few more signs of life this week from a team that has basically been DOA.
