and i thought i liked winter...
Pretty much literally overnight Goshen shifted gears from pleasant 50-60 degree fall weather to snowy-with-a-high-of-30 and the sky has become overcast -- and will probably remain so for the next several months -- at some point this week. Normally I would welcome this changing of seasons as cold weather helps bring life into sharper focus. However, now that I spend a respectable percentage of time outside, or at least in houses that are full of holes, the coming of winter isn't the best thing that has ever happened to me.
To answer the question that Chris posed like a month ago: I am working at Habitat for Humanity. I pulled out of the computer-sales-and-service venture with Seth just before we needed to sign the lease for the storefront. It was a tough decision but I am happy with it now. I still would be open to doing something like that in the future but starting a business is too big of a commitment for me in the near term. So now I spend my days forcibly removing resalable items from houses that are going to be torn down or driving around picking up donations. I also make displays and things for the store from time to time. I like my job but about froze my feet off today.
tomorrow after work plan on taking a sledge to a bunch of cast iron stuff in a house that is going to be demolished next Monday. With prices at near-record levels ($150/ton) I might be able to make a few bucks. I'll give 25% back to the store so it's all good. This way I can afford more stuff at SuperPawn their tool prices make me want to sing for joy. There is a store in Phoenix so Steve could take an additional 15% off with in-store pickup. I would if I were him.
