A new Z for Andy! With turbos! :)
Thats right I am currently the proud owner of 2, yes 2 300zx's for the moment, till I sell my other one now. So it's pretty sweet to see two of them together. My new one is a twin turbo.
Get this though, on my drive home from buying it from this guy about 2 hours north of me, I am driving next to my dad and he's in my other Z, I am in the new one, I gun it by him, pushing about 15 pounds of boost, and I hear this "woosh" and I am like "S" and wtf was that. Then it sounded like a loud ticking, and I was soo scared that a turbo had blown. And the timing was rediculous I had just driven it with the guy I bought it from not 15 minutes ago, and now this happens. Well we pull over at a gas station, and I had to fill up gas anyway. I fill up the gas, and go to get back in the car and move it. Nope, keys locked inside in the ignition. Something he failed to tell me that the aftermarket keyless entry on this car auto locks right when the car shuts off....and the spare key is still in the car at this point. So now I'm like "F". To make this long story a little shorter, the passenger side door keyhole is messed up and I just jiggled my other 300zx key in it and it turned the lock...whoops, but at least I got my keys back. Ended up driving it home because I was told it was a bolt that popped out at the back of the manifold. The guy before me had removed the EGR which recirculates some exhaust fumes back into the engine making the exhaust a little cleaner, and helps the engine not run quite as hot. A/w he removed this system because some people think it affects performace, even though at WOT, wide open throttle, I have been told that it shuts off. Well in removing this system there were some open plumbing pipes that had been plugged with bolts, well under high pressure of my turbos spooling this bold had popped out.
Sooooo, if you're still reading, I have been working on the car all day, and to get to the place where a nut neads to be put back in is a bitch, its between the engine and firewall and my hand can just barely fit in there from above or below, and I have to do it all by feel, can't see. So put a new bolt in tonight and sealed it with some JB weld putty stuff.
Also, swapped exhaust systems, actually the exhaust he had on his looks better on my silver Z, its a little more aftermarket looking and looks good on my car. The pipes are ginormous. like seriously 4 inches wide at the mouth. Also fixed my door lock that was broken.
The long road of fixing and pimping out a new Z has begun, and this one will be faster! much! :) You will all get rides if you like, I'll bring it to Goshen in a week. For now, peace out!
